Publisher review:RiceCNC is an integrated hardware and software solution to control CNC machines using a Macintosh computer. An inexpensive, $26.99, Digilent “ChipKit” UNO32 µP board performs interpolation for up to six axes with micro-stepping for each motor while relieving the host computer of timing considerations. The Mac desktop host software can concurrently control multiple machines.
Most users will be able to interface an UNO32 directly to their driver board and this is recommended if possible. RiceCNC can also make a companion hardware interface box, i.e.,
RiceCNC comes with support for circular, drill circle, run and jog coordinated movement for simple machining operations.
But RiceCNC is also suitable for more complex operations as well, since it includes support for a subset of the RS-274 (G-Code) dialect with many extensions for program control.
